Who are you and where do you come from?
I am Kai Gozo, i am from South Africa, Johannesburg
When did you start working in a kitchen?
Where does your inspiration come from?
It comes from my aunt who was a fantastic cook herself
How would you describe your style of cooking?
It is innovative. Using incredible fresh ingredients and not altering them too much. My mentor Albert Kooy believes in organic and fresh products, that is how i prefer to work. Making incredible products with full flavors.
What is your favorite ingredient?
Rib Eye Steak
What is your favorite thing to cook?
Steak and fish
What is your favorite cuisine?
A fusion of french and dutch cuisine
What is your advice to people who want to become a chef?
Work hard, and never let anyone tell you that it cannot be done, after all, the dutch government told me i could have a dutch work permit..I wasnt having that!
What is your ultimate food dream?
To own a restaurant, a michellin star level one, but not bowing down to their sometimes ridiculous standards. In short, a top quality 3 star restaurant that doesnt need reaffirmation, just happy customers. And thats the bottom line.
